Can I search the Shoom network for advertising being placed by a particular agency?
 
Yes. SST allows any member of the network to search an agency’s historical activity up to and including the current day.
 
Large advertising agencies advertise in many newspapers. Do I have to search publication-by-publication when searching for historical activity by an agency?
 
No, when you conduct a search, the SST search engine defaults to “All Publications.” Unless you choose to narrow the search, you will receive results from the entire network.
 

Most agencies place advertising for more than one account. If I’m searching by agency, do I have to include the name of the account and conduct multiple searches?

 
One of the services Shoom provides is a very comprehensive linking process.  As a result, when you enter the name of an agency followed by the date range, your search will deliver every ad placed for every advertiser, in every publication in the network within your date range, with a single click.
 
If I have a new advertiser entering my market and they currently run in newspapers in other markets, can I see their historical activity?
 
Yes. You can search for any advertiser in any market we serve. You will find this particularly helpful for budget planning purposes.  This information will also help you identify what size contract you will likely be negotiating.
 
I constantly have advertisers calling me and wanting me to supply them with competitive data. Is there a way Shoom can help me with these laborious and time consuming projects?
 
Yes, there are two ways. The first is simply to remind the agency or advertiser that they have complete access and can do a quick search by advertiser and see not only the information but a thumbnail of the actual ad along with the ad results. The second is for you to do it and download it into an Excel spreadsheet and send it to them.  The entire process only takes minutes.
 
If I get a call at 8:00 a.m. from my publisher questioning an advertiser’s year-over-year performance, can SST provide me with that level of detail?
 
Yes, you can search historically through your own publication for any advertiser to identify year-over-year variances in a matter of seconds. No longer do you have to wait for the sales representative or someone from finance to run a report for you.
 
I’m on a mission to sell out all of my front page strips. I want to quickly see advertisers who are advertising on section fronts. Is there a way to do that?
 
Yes there are several ways. You can click and browse through any publication in the network. Or, you can enter the word “front” in the description field, set the default to “All Publications” and enter the date range and retrieve hundreds of front page ads in a few seconds.
 
If one of my sales people is making a call on a target account, how can SST assist them?
 
Let’s say they will be calling on a targeted furniture account. Before they make the call, they simply enter the word “furniture” in the ad description field.  In literally seconds, they effortlessly search through millions of pages of ads. They can search all publications or a select publication over any date range.  This will help them identify and view schedules, ads, headlines, sizes, frequency etc., so they can make the call with a recommendation for a schedule for a month, quarter of a year, etc.  They can include themes or headlines, frequency, size, day and date of publication.  The description search field will work for almost any type of advertiser, for example home improvement, jewelry, watches, Mexican food, Italian food and so on.
 
What if I want to get an idea of schedules running either nationally or regionally? Can SST help me see what is going on?
 
Yes. Shoom has over 450 titles in North America representing every region and time zone.  And, because Shoom’s customers represent every size newspaper from Americas largest to some of its smallest you, can get a good idea as to how deep a buy is being placed. 
 
Can a sales person use SST to show a client a competing advertiser’s aggressive schedule, size and frequency in an effort to sell a bigger schedule? Do they have to bring a laptop with internet access on the call?
 
A sales person can be in front of an account, open the site, and show why they should be buying a bigger schedule, greater frequency, color, et al.  They do not need a laptop. The rep can simply use any computer with internet access, log into www.shoom.com, and search for any advertiser.
 
My publisher is always asking me what we can do for new advertising opportunities. Can Shoom SST help me with this problem?
